Would brushing your stand or ground blind with cedar limbs help cover your scent?

I'd say no.. A deers sense of smell is too good not to smell you. Best bet is to play the wind.. Or be in a stand very high up in a tree and or just hope they don't mind smelling you that day.

No but especially when leaves are off the tree the extra cover for you is never a bad thing.

No, not completely for a cover, but it may help a little with confusing their nose and give you an extra second or two while they are figuring it out. I have cedars at or near most my stand sites, and I have in the past used cedar in with my clothes.

Best thing for scent control is an Ozonics. They are not cheap, but how much are you willing to pay to dissappear? It's almost cheating.

I consider scent control knowing where your scent is going. hunt the downwind side of the "attraction", main trail, food source what ever has drawn the deer there. So placement of stand is crucial.
I'm a scent control believer and always stir the pot when we get in to this subject.
Cover scents, scent loc and knowing where you scent is going will get you a long ways.

It's a good thought but don't think it'll have much control for your scent. As others have already said, know what the wind is doing and adjust to it. Nothing wrong with setting up a stand for a north and south primary wind to have different options.

I wash my clothes in unscented detergent and don't go in convenient stores or restaurants without changing first. That and playing the wind is about as crazy as I get with it.

In my experience it's impossible to hide your stink. Either the deer care or they don't, but they will smell you. Staying downwind of where you expect movement is the best we can do.

That said, brushing yourself in for sure helps with them seeing you. And in my experience that is at least as important as them smelling you.

How big of a deer do you want to kill? What age class are you looking for? We can and do get away with spooking deer in a younger age class but with age comes experience especially with mature bucks. They simply won't tolerate the slightest hint of human presence. We think our scent control methods eliminate a lot of scent, and it may reduce it some, but not nearly enough to convince a mature buck that everything is safe. Not to hijack another thread, but if want to see what it's like to hunt a mature buck give hunting coyotes in the timber a try using traditional scent control methods. I equate coyote tolerance and mature buck tolerance of human scent to be about equal.
