Scope or red dot?

This will be for my stepson's (13) crossbow, claimed 245fps range. Scope that came with it is junk and would like to upgrade, more than likely use it on his next one as he progresses. What do you guys like and any recommendations?

Batteries don't go dead on scope, well most of them. I like low power scopes, especially for young hunters and close distances.

I have a Hawke XB1 SR 1.5-5X32 and use Hawke rings on my Excalibur Matrix 355. Really like it and it would be a scope you could rotate to other crossbows easily.

The Hawke seems to get good reviews from what I've looked at this past week, everyone really likes them for the price point it seems.

I have had both and I like the scope better then red dot.

Bummed my Uncles Wildcat. Red Dot came on it.. I played with it recently.. By playing seeing what I good see through it.. Aint No Way in low light it would cost ya...

Scope IMO n yes doing some research on myself..
