Aquired a new lease this week. I'm going in the morning to scout for the first time. I'm planning on walking as much as the heat will permit, hanging several trail cams, riding, and glassing at sundown.

What steps would you guys take? Any precautions you would take?

I'm planning on getting a topo soon as I can.

It's early enough that you probably won't bother anything but I like looking at aerial photos and topos first just so I can already have an idea of where I want to hang cameras at, glassing fields is always a good idea

Your last sentence would be the first step I took.

Having an idea of where you want to scout will save you a lot of time compared to wondering around on foot. Also the topo and aerial will help you predict some places you want to run a trail camera.

Evening glassing is a good thing to do this time of year as well.

Bad thing about trying to foot scout right now is everything has "greened" up and things will look absolutely different without foilage.

Best of luck on the new property!
