My 11 yr. old daughter wants to go turkey hunting this year, so we've done some scouting expeditions the past two Saturdays. Yesterday, I decided to take her to the spot where I killed my first turkey almost 40 years ago. I have no idea who owns the land now, so I didn't plan on accessing it, but thought I would just drive by the spot so she could see it. Just as we passed the old parking spot, we looked in a field and two jakes with ~ 6 inch beards were standing about 20 yards from the road. This was the first time she has seen turkeys this close up. Just thought it was kind of neat.
