The 2024-25 season was my first time ever deer hunting, so take this with a grain of salt… I hunted Shady Park PHA about four times this season and did not see a single deer. I usually arrived about an hour before daylight and stayed three to four hours in the morning.

While I did hear a handful of gunshots on two of the days I hunted Shady Park PHA, it sounded like they came from adjoining properties.

I did speak with two hunters who told me they had harvested deer there once or twice in the past several years.

Since it's surrounded by fields I figured there would be some deer there. You never know.

Drove by to look at it one weekend this past season and there were 7 trucks in the parking lot. My suggestion is to not waste your time unless you literally have no other option.

I had planned on trying it out last year for early archery but we finally found our own piece of property to buy so never looked back!

Sounds shady to me.
