CONGRATS! Ive got one of his first ones, one he made from a flat file I think with some scales (handles) on it that have sentimental value, and I put it to good use again last week. I skinned and quartered 4 mule deer in Montana with it and its still sharp enough to do a couple more if need be!
One good thing about knowing the maker and seeing him several times a week is I sent it home with him to touch up the edge before going to Texas in a few weeks lol.
