Shooting house chairs

Instead of carpeting the floors of shooting houses, has anyone ever tried using the rubber floor mats sold at Harbor Freight? Seems to me that this would help soundproof the shooting house, but also be easily removable for cleaning purposes. I've seen some guys use rubber contact cement to attach these to interior walls to soundproof it even more.

I find office chairs quite often on Craigslist. Just don't make the mistake of putting two in a shooting house, one for your feet. After lunch on a warm afternoon, I can't resist taking my boots off and well you know- siesta!

Another good source to find used office chairs is GovDeals.Com. They sell government surplus and there are government agencies all over the state of Tennessee that sell through the Govdeals website.

I was just about to recommend looking for them on Govdeals. I've purchased several things on there over the years. Big metal filing cabinets make great tool boxes and hunting gear storage.

Ditto on used office chairs and carpet in the sc2-3 blinds. They are better if adjustable up and down. Those windows are a bit high if u are avg height. Also suggest hanging camo burlap for window blinds. Good luck

So I'm about done with my shooting house and have a sportsman condo sc3 to put up also. Leaves me to thinking about chairs. My plan is to get each house their own chairs and leave them as I don't want to be carrying chairs in and out every time I hunt. I want 2 per. I was thinking some office chairs with wheels but worry about them squeeking and noise as they aren't really designed to be silent. Anyone have any recommendations?
If you do anything, make sure it is a quality high back office chair that is comfortable and will recline and adjust in height. You will be able to sit the entire day. Done it many times. Good luck

Yes used the rubber mats. They work good. I like to insulate under floor and a couple layers on top of the floor with carpet or rubber mat.
Last ones I used this large rubber and felt lined mat that came off a metal truck bumper as a shipping protector. It's fantastic

Hey bulld....nice blind..... what's the story on the bird house? That's cool....just curious.

We also use a lot of office chairs in our shooting houses. WD40 or other spray oil helps a lot with squeaks. The trash bag at the end of season is also good daily to keep the chairs dry if you have any trouble with blow in. One problem we have had is squirrels chewing up the foam. Haven't found a good fix for that yet other than to not leave any food in the house. I like the idea of the rubber mats, I hate soggy carpet. Wondering about cost though, where do you all get your mats?

We used office chairs; one nice one with arms, and one very small one. Most of the time, just one person is hunting and they use the nice chair, placing all of their equipment/backpack in the small chair. So far, no noise out of the chairs, except if you spin around too fast and bang against the wall. We have carpeted floors and that helps considerably with noise.
Same here.

I scored big time. Our warehouse has office space upstairs. Quite a few office chairs up there. Branch manager gave me 4.

Sweet!

Before taking them out, I'd do a test sit in the garage, etc to determine if any make any unusual pops or squeaks when you lay back in them or turn etc.

Something else that I added to our shooting houses, that you may not have thought of, was an adjustable shooting rail for each window. I'd point my gun in different directions to see where a most likely shot might occur, and adjust the rail accordingly. Makes long shots easier.

My parents use my farm as a relaxation getaway, as much as I do sometimes. My mom is very artistic and day builds things for fun. So they made a few birdhouses for me with their caricatures on them. That's dad in the pic after we finished the blind. 👍🏽

Dang, that is a serious stand for that condo! That thing isn't going anywhere!

Already mentioned once above, but one of the biggest mistakes you can make is NOT checking under the chair for wasp nests!

They can be very hard to see.
Under the chairs, under the steps, under the eave overhangs, Hanging out under the stand. I take a couple cans of wasp spray with me before season opens and check everywhere. It don't hurt to give the ground a good look for those ground nesting stinging critters.
