Should I even shoot my Tricks into a foam target before deer season or can I just screw them on and trust they will have enough accuracy out to 35 yards to hit the vitals?

I'd shoot atleast 1..Im switching to them this year..I have to have a set for just practice,if not, I just ain't got no confidence in the way they fly,I have to know they are gonna fly right.

You really need to try one to see how it'll shoot. Some broadheads shoot the same as a field point, other's plane and fly wildly, you need to know this BEFORE you shoot one at a living target. Pick one, mark it in someway and use it for your practice broadhead. That way you can save the other sharp ones for the actual hunt.

Yes try them, but you really dont need to yet. Season is a long way away and most of the small diameter heads and expandables shoot just like field dips. Id usually wait until about August, give the one I want to shoot a try if all goes well I do it once more on several arrows about 2 weeks before season.

I always donate one for practice. When season gets closer I set up my HHA for broadheads and I will keep shooting field tips. If there is much change that I notice I will go threw and put a little mark on my sight tape for 20-60 yards.

From what I understand, you'll have to shoot them in order to tune your bow right so that they'll match the same point of impact as your field points do.

UT - I have some dull ST blades if you want a set. I practice with dull blades to make sure they are all on then put on new blades when it's time to hunt.

The only problem is I shoot the 85 grain heads which have different blades than the 100 grain I believe.

There are a couple reasons to "practice" shooting your bow. One is to work on and maintain your shooting form, the other is to make sure your bow tune/setup is in line.

I do the majority of my shooting as true "practice", using field tips. Then near the beginning of the season I shoot a few with the Slicktricks, G5 STRIKERS, or Thunderheads to be sure of the tuning. The Slicks and hte Striker have always hit exactly with my field tips, so usually one or two sessions with the broadheads is enough to tell the bow is OK. I keep shooting fieldtips throughout the season, with an occasional shot with broadheads (usually at a living target).

I wouldnt recommend ever going hunting with anything that you have never shot. Practice with what you intend to hunt with is the only way to know for sure that you are ready!
