I love to turkey hunt but the hour and a half drive to my lease gets to me especially since I basically only turkey hunt the mornings. I made it to the woods a grand total of 3 days this year. Life gets in the way sometimes and that's ok. Had birds gobbling the first day and could've killed one the second day as I ranged him at 45 yards but I like them closer and held off. He never came closer so I let him walk. Day 3 was Saturday and didn't hear a bird but did see 2 fly down and then 2 hens in another field. Yesterday my wife wanted to go to the lake so that's what we did. On our way home we were a mile from the house and a dang longbeard was standing on the side of the road as if he were taunting me. Told my wife if he steps out I can't stop and will kill a turkey one way or the other. Thankfully for him and my truck I slowed down and eased right by. Had my wife opened the door she could've got him. Oh well until next year and hoping I make it to the woods a little more.
