Looking into getting my first smoker in the near future, anyone have any smoker recipes they wanna share? Pictures are welcome as well! Staring at food is how I got to be 300lbs haha

What kind of smoker you plan on getting? Lot of good choices these days, I mainly use a pellet smoker but have others.

Have you decided on a heat source? Charcoal or electric?

Amazingribs.com is my favorite smoking/grilling site. Tons of good info there including recipes, methods, and equipment reviews with a lot of testing and research behind all of it.

I haven't decided on one yet, I'm thinking pellet. I've heard the pellet smokers are really easy, kinda set it and forget it smokers for the most part, but not sure which one I'm gonna get yet.

They provide a lite smoke flavor, the hotter you run them the less smoke flavor you get, I ran that Turkey with hickory and apple mix, added a smoke tube with shag hickory bark and apple pellets , injected with creole butter , it was really good, yep I don't stay up baby setting much any more, sacrifice a little flavor for sleep, works well for me :tu:

Yea, I've been watching them and Malcom Reed on How To BBQ Right and they both make my mouth water, love watching people cook lol I was just curious if anyone had some special recipes you can't find on Youtube

What kind of cookers do you have currently? You may have mentioned and I missed it, but if you don't already have any type of grill at all I think you'd be hard pressed to beat a Weber kettle. They are IMO the most versatile cooker going and can put out plenty of good, smoked que.

If you already have a gasser or dedicated griller, then like was mentioned just pick the heat source you want to use (charcoal, pellets, wood) and a budget.

Edit to add- I realized I didn't actually answer your question at all which was for recipes. But, the recipes will vary based on what you're cooking with-

Chicken thighs & pork butts are very forgiving, cheap & delicious. You can really hone your skills with these and try new things.

I've have all three charcoal, propane and electric. Charcoal take more attention, propane and electric are about the same. I've had great success with them all but if I had to choose one and one only it would be the electric. I have a Masterbuilt electric works really well. Also have a small Masterbuilt propane that I take camping and as I said charcoal works well but you have to give it more attention to keep the heat where you want it and lots of info on YouTube.
