So how was the NWTF show?

it was fine, crowded like always and still in line with the shift to non turkey hunting related stuff. Id say more then half the stuff was whitetail or non turkey hunting related which is fine if you just like hunting in general.

I go these days just to see friends and walk around some with no plans to really buy anything. Was more disappointed with the gun manufactures there, there was a lot of cool stuff released at shot show a few weeks ago and NONE of that stuff was there or on display which is weird.

Like was said above about the duck calls, I would have hated to have been a booth set up next to them for obvious reasons. There is a lot of good stuff there and I make the trip every year. I didn't bring anything major home this year except the flu!!

So someone online with a T shirt that said " I love duck calls indoors"

Last year it felt like 80% of the booths were just turkey call makers. All of them sounded like turkeys. If you're wanting to get into the hunting business, please do something other than turkey calls.

Anyways, I went on thursday and it was still pretty busy. Seen a lot of the fellas from podcasts / youtube channels that I watch so that was cool. Grabbed a KB from houndstooth, a choke, another mask (can't have too many) and some ammo. They had good sales for ammo.

Was a fine time. I usually do a quick grid search and head out.

It's been years since I went. But the good thing about that place is the call makers you wouldn't find unless you went there. That's how I found Jimmy schaffer. Many years ago. He makes outstanding calls.

I love going and will keep going as long as it is here. The last several years haven't been really impressive. I don't mind the crowds. I go because it's here and it's free with my NWTF membership (which I get with a $25 BPS GC). I buy hot sauce, jerky, coffee and salsa. Normally I look for something unique in the way of calls/gear but this year there really wasn't a lot unique. MANY overpriced calls, ammo and other gear. I did get a great deal on a backpack which was not on my list of things to look at. It is good exercise...lol...I parked by BPS and walked so about 30 miles both ways... 🤣
