Someone explain why TENNESSEE is so expensive to deer hunt….

Ky was well over 400 last time I went up there. I think so many residents buy lifetime licenses anymore that raising prices on sales across the board is their way of making up that money.
Why would residents buying lifetime make them need to make up money? If I remember correctly @scn can probably verify but lifetime license sales money goes into an account and they draw interest from it.

The cost of salaries , vehicles , gas etc is why the costs are going up

You just answered your own question. I paid $1000 22years ago for my lifetime license. Unless they invested that in bitcoin they are I'm sure losing money on me by now. But just like you said cost of salaries rising, gas going up, vehicles doubling in price since then. You think that $1000 I spent back then is hitting the same as $300/year right now. Or 6600 over the past 22 years? Even at that 300 a year ain't the same money it was even 5 years ago.

How much is SC's non-resident deer hunting license? More than $200.

All states charge non-residents more, the same way that cities lump in a bunch of taxes on hotels, rental cars, etc. It's a way to have outsiders pay more of the bill.

So how in the world are the lifetime licenses supposed to make financial sense?
I mean, it seems to me like they're losing money, just by selling more LT licenses.
One reason is that lots of lifetime licenses are bought for kids, grandkids, etc. that never "get used" by the recipient. As an example, I bought my nephew a lifetime license when he was born. He's 19 now, lives out of state, and doesn't hunt or fish.

So you're complaining about paying $300 for the chance to kill a good deer? Residents waste a lot more money than that every year to chance it. Leases, fuel, seed, time
I don't know if you pay attention or not but the state of Illinois hates gun owners. I'm hopeful I never have to step foot in that liberal gun hating hell hole again.

I'd hate to know how much I've spent on NR licenses since 1979. Best I can remember I've bought 35 for myself since then and probably 10 or 12 more for grandsons that went on some trips with me. That doesn't include the TN ones I've bought since moving in 1972 either!

Whatever it is, it was worth every dollar.

I'm in that same boat. I live and own hunting land in tennessee. All my kids and grandchildren live in Georgia. Non-resident licenses for them.
You need to look into this; from what I understand children and grandchildren don't need to get a license under the landowner exemption. From TN.Gov website:

Who can hunt on a landowner's property without a license?
1. Landowners, their spouses,s, and children who hunt on farmland which is owned by said landowners. The aforementioned must be residents of Tennessee but need not reside on the land. This license exemption does not apply if the farmland is owned jointly or in common by unrelated persons.*

* Landowner License Exemption: Persons hunting without a license under a farmland owner exemption must complete and sign a statement attesting where the property is located and how this land qualifies for a landowner exemption before hunting. All persons, including youth, hunting without a license under a farmland owner exemption must comply with the provisions of T.C.A. 70-2-204 (b). Landowners and their children hunting on their parent's land under this exemption are also exempt from Hunter Education Certification requirements.

You have to be a resident of TN for the landowner exemption to apply.

The "almost" majority of IL is as red as TN. Unfortunately, the liberal hellhole of Chicago counteracts that enough to have the power to make the laws. Unfortunately, I can see the same for TN in the future with Mempiss and Nashvegas.

Unfortunately your right and we will deserve everything that happens to us as we've done nothing but sit on our hands and allowed it to happen. Same as Illinois
