Driving from Jackson to Martin and back the last two days for work. Flooded fields around Greenfield are absolutely full of smiling mallards. Maybe saw half a dozen all season. They are really beautiful birds. I forget that sometimes.

Rice field mallards. A full plumed Drake is very pretty…..if you could just shave that bill

Saw a few this year, 2 of us killed 7 in one volley. I agree they are pretty birds

For some reason I'm still surprised by the amount of waterfowl that returns to good habitat that is huntable when pressure is removed… the hollywoods seem to be a lot less than 5 years ago from my observation.
