I would be interested as well, especially if someone wnated to carpool out from west TN. I could drive my suburban.

Larry

If this comes together, I'll hitch a ride with you.

Sounds good :tu: I will get a chance to break out my DSD decoys. Havent had a chance to yet out here.

Im interested... it all depends on the camping situation. I don't have the gear to pack in for primitive camping. I could borrow a tent for a campground area, but that'd be about it.

Maybe I can talk REN in to going together.

If you'll cook me breakfast and have coffee ready each morning I might be interested. :pop:

I was thinking more along the lines of staying a hotel, hunting in the AM, and hitting up Cracker Barrel!

You can ride with me and REN. Or you can drive and we'll kick back in the back seat. No homo.

:o think I just had something come up that weekend. :)
The group hunt is now going to be held in west TN. It will not be in the BSF area on the weekend of the 16th. Under no circumstances, should you come to BSF on the weekend of the 16th. As a matter of fact, TWRA has cancelled all turkey hunting east of Cookeville from the 15th to the 18th. :D

It sounds like pennywise is in.

Here's what I've done on other forums and it seems to work pretty good. I'll pick a date and time that I'm going to reserve a campsite and post it on the forum. When I reserve my campsite, I'll be sure to pick one with several empty sites adjacent to it. After I get my confirmation, I'll post the site number and the open adjacent sites so others can get theirs. Most state campgrounds allow 3 tents per site so not everyone has to reserve a site but since this is an informal gathering, I don't concern myself with it. If only a small handful of people commit (which is usually the case), we can all pile in my site. I'm a light sleeper, so I always have my own tent, but others can pile in together if they wish.

I'm either going to reserve a spot at Bandy Creek in BSF, or Pickett State Park which is adjacent to it. TN's state parks are always nice places to stay. Bandy Creek can be hunted straight out of, but I'll have to look at my map to see how big the no hunting buffer is. Pickett State Forest is open to hunting during regular season, but I'm not sure if the open areas are next to the campgrounds. I'll have to look into it.

As for the brown water, I know that alcohol is permitted in most NPS campgrounds. As long as no one thinks they are Frank the Tank and streaks through it.

I vote for camping in BSF vs. the state park. The state charges a $330 cover charge to drink 1 beer. :x
That sounds like a man speaking from experience. The meter is weighing very heavily towards camping at BSF.

Unless something crazy happens, it'll be BSF.

Bandy Creek is definitely the nicest. You would have a decent walk to get out of the safety zone though and then walk off the road from there. You would have to "backcountry" camp to just walk right of camp. If its that weekend, I won't be camping with you all because all my family is coming to stay in our cabin.....we can walk right off the porch into BSF from it, but I prefer going elsewhere. I will definitely stop by though. I wouldn't really expect a lot of folks to really get into the birds without some prior knowledge but anything is possible. They can be pretty sparse.

I may have to take a road trip up to BSF in the next 10 days or so. I've spent a decent amount of time up there, but never once exploring the developed areas. All my trips have been for the sole purpose of getting away.
