I think back in the 50's.. the state record 14 pound large mouth was caught in sugar creek , lawrence county.. anyone know where this creek is located exactly?
Also the new state record is 15 something and was caught in the chic i think..

Sugar Creek flows into Alabama south of Minor Hill. I don't think the Lawrence County portion of it is much more than a ditch. I could be wrong, just going from memory.
pretty much. there used to be a pic of the guy by the creek and it looked like a small creek with a deep spot in it.

TWRA says it was out of a deep hole a quarter of a mile long and 10-12 feet deep on a property owned by a Mr. Crabb, near the Giles Co. line, using live creek minnows. old boy was fishing for rock bass...

i surprised no one caught the 17 pounder that TWRA shocked up 14 years ago. i imagine that gal is dead and gone by now though.

i know a couple of 12's and 13's that were caught out of that lake a few years later.

Where did they shock a 17lber? I have not heard about that.

I looked at a farm this summer in minor hill ( Giles county) on sugar creek. The owners family had owned it for 80-100 yrs. He said it was caught on that property and I tend to believe him. You could see huge fish out there swimming around. It looked like a river going through the property . It was beautiful with the springs and creek but was missing some things I was looking for.
