Due to unexpected expenses there is nothing I can do about it this year but I was just mulling this over the other day and was just curious as to other's opinions.

I have a 54 pound thrust 12V motorguide trolling motor. Tiller handle.
The battery is 3 years old and is actually the second one I have had in the last 6 years.

Even when I replaced the battery the first time, it seems to me that the trolling motor just don't have the "ump" it had in the past.

A couple times a year I remove the prob and inspect for and remove any fishing line that has accumulated around the shaft.

Is it reasonable to assume that the motor itself has been losing power over time?
I guess basically I am asking is it "normal" to just wear one out?

Yes, I am bored and dying to go fishing in nice weather. :D
