Subdivision deer

I lived in a community one time and I could walk out and shake a bucket of corn in the evening and before I could get back in the house deer would be coming out to eat. Was a dead end and got permission from the neighbors to shoot some. Gave out jerky and prepped meat to them in return. They were just happy not to have them eating their plants. Was a quick easy way to fill the freezer. End result is the same as spending hours in the woods.
If the end result for you is just putting meat in the freezer, that is a correct statement.

For a lot of us the hunt has very little to do with putting meat in the freezer.

The problem there is who can authorize a contract like this? If we tried in our community the tree huggers would go nuts. There is no answer other than don't get caught. I don't like that one. Thx

City counsel authorizes it as I understand. I'm sure each city has their own way of handling it. Might reach out to your city and see if they have anything in place, and if not then perhaps it's possible to propose a solution.

I've killed a lot of urban deer. In my stand at house windows level watching people get their coffee as the sun comes up.
They can do a lot of damage, very quickly, to landscaping and most people are glad to have a few less. Some aren't. The hard part is taking a great shot, when they are facing an area where them running 20-30yds isn't a problem.
And some are more wary than others.
I saw a show where they shot a deer in a really fancy neighborhood in Atlanta. Darned thing ran, spraying blood out of both sides, across a driveway, then patio and dropped on a neighbor's pool cover!!

I have little desire to shoot subdivision deer. We don't really have that many and even though most of the neighbors probably wouldn't care one certain one definitely would. I can just picture one collapsing on her driveway. That would be really bad. Anyway I like having deer around because I like seeing them nearly every day.
I like seeing them too but it's ridiculous.

I do both. I have family and friends that love to eat it. For the hunting I have a special place.

Love these city deer.
Eating and fertilizing my weeds.

Urban hunt i am doing. There are alot of non hunters from the North. But the deer are doing alot of damage . They want them thinned out. Plus houses are not close to each other. That is a plus. If i can help some people. By donating the meat. Keep someone from going hungry. The meat also goes to soup kitchens.

You're right, there is a HUGE urban deer problem. I don't really know what the answer is with all the tree huggers who would lose their minds.
Also, that has to be so annoying for him😂
I bet he thinks he's special.
Hard to kill em when the grandkids have em named.
not for my grandkids 😂🏹

I live in Arkansas. Deer population in the small towns around some of the small lakes. I am doing urban archery hunt. Keep the meat . Or donate to hunters feeding the hungry. Gut it and drop it off at the butchers. The deer are eating everything in the yards. Getting hit by vehicles. Unlimited either sex tags. They give me 10 tags to start out with. September 1st thru February 28th. If i can help feed few people. I will help out.
10 tags?! man they really must be a bunch of deer. I say this assuming quite a few hunters participate. How many folks you know into it?

Yesterday the deer were out all over where I live along Old Hickory Lake. There were 10 bucks, does, and fawns behind the house and 9 more spread out while driving a block out. I guess this one will be wearing a new hat for a while. He was behind the house. There are way too many around here. They eat all the flowers and veggies people plant and get hit by cars. People don't slow down even though they know there are deer all over. There needs to be a harvest.
I know that some people think it's beautiful to have them around and they should be left alone. I know other people that hate them and others that like to eat them. 🏹
Anyone else having this problem? Should I ask TWRA if I can pick a few off? They probably taste like roses and other flowers😂 ?.

To many subdivisions in my estimation

That's my main reason to hunt.
I'm ve already shot my deer of a lifetime.
I can eat venison 5 days a week.

10 tags to start out with. It's unlimited either sex tags. There are a bunch of different citys doing it. You can do that urban hunt. Then u have 6 tags for the rest of the state. Urban hunt deer. Dont count on your state limit. There was around 200 people. But 75% wont hunt. I think they showed up to BS. Them 200 people at the class. That was for 2 different towns. Up can sign up too hunt every town has the urban hunts. If a person had a mind too.

It's hard to look at that picture and seriously think that buck would be as difficult to hunt & kill as one in the wilderness. I'm all about the controlling of the urban deer population. It makes sense in terms of public safety and property damage. But man seeing pictures like that make it hard not to giggle at the folks arguing urban hunting is real hunting. JMO
I've actually hunted deer in a true wilderness. They see so few humans that they literally aren't in any hurry to flee when jumped or realize you're there. We've had them follow us back to the horses and stand within 50 yards of us while we gutted one of their buddies. Lol.
