stik and twig are wanting recurves and I wanted to know what to look for that is a solid shooter that won't break the bank.

there is a Checkmate brand that I have heard about having several choices in good quality, reasonable cost bows.

also check out aimarchery.com

all this is assuming you are talking about production line bows.

not knowing how old stik and twig are and what they intend to do with these bows has a lot to play into what to recommend.

Thank you for the replies.BTW,stik is OOOOOOOOOOOOLLDDD.(not really but couldn't resist.he is 47.twig is 20.

Stik aint old, he younger than me.:D (i;m 48)
and twig is a spring chicken!!!! :D

the biggest thing is dont over-bow themselves. that is the first worse mistake a new trad person does.

I am in my 60,s and have seem to many guys over bowed with to high a pound recurve that they can not shoot well.

What would be a good poundage? twig really wants to kill a deer with one.He is pulling 70 on his compound.

50lb is plenty,i hunt with 47lb @27in draw

and I am shooting 50 at 28. I shot 2 last year. shot placement is the key here. you have to remember there is no let-off at 2/3 draw, you will be holding all of it at full.

I've hunted with draw weights between 45-50#@29" for years now. Popping both lungs on a whitetail has never been an issue.
