Yep and players are a lot better and teams are full of them nowadays. Totally different game play now.

Maybe but I bet Joe Montana did not have to hire the Texas Rangers to go looking for his jersey. LOL

Stats are great and will prove how good a player was, but then we'd probably be arguing whether Dan Marino or Brett Favre were the best ever based on their stats alone.

For a QB, championships have to be the deciding factor. Marino undoubtedly had better career stats than Bradshaw, but I'd take Bradshaw over Marino any day. Marino, Manning (both), Favre, Warner, Young, Stabler, Jurgenson, etc. all great QBs, but not on the list of best ever. And don't forget Aikman and his 3 Super Bowls. I'd put him above that list. I'm on record that Brady is the GOAT, but I think only two other QBs compare to him (and they are both from a vastly different era).

First, the "almost GOATs":

- Bradshaw - 4 Super Bowls
- Montana - 4 Super Bowls
- Unitas - 3 NFL championships + 1 Super Bowl
(might be able to put Aikman in here)

THE GOATs:

- Otto Graham - 7 NFL championships (10 straight NFL championship game appearances!!)
- Bart Starr - 5 NFL championships + 2 Super Bowls
- Tom Brady - 5 Super Bowls (7 total Super Bowl appearances)

Arguably, Graham and Starr are the GOATs, but given the vast differences in the eras, I'm still leaning towards Brady.

10 Straight NFl Championship Appearances! Impressive.

Naaa!! Not if it takes the Texas Rangers to track it down. LMAO.

Can't imagine it being worth anything monetarily. How would you go about selling such a thing? Its hotter than 2020 Elvis Reunion Tour tickets.

Basically, FOS.

Now that I think about it, it could be possible. :tu:

PS. Im kidding :rotf:

Brady is a great QB and definitely in the conversation as the best ever. However, Montana is undefeated in Superbowl starts. I just can't see Montana going 5-2 in 7 Superbowl starts. I believe he would be 7-0 or 6-1.

PDB, I have to ask. When did Montana "break his back"? I know he had back surgery, but I thought after that the 49ers traded him to the Chiefs? The Chiefs haven't been to the Super Bowl since the Hank Stram, Ed Podolak, Lenny Dawson days.

Man I have slept since then.

I want to say it was 88 or 89? He really did not break his back. (Figure of speech) He did have back surgery. If memory serves me correctly he came back to win the Superbowl in 1990??????

I remember the first night he came back. It was a Monday night against the Giants. He kept putting him on his back left and right. Joe kept getting up like it wasent nothin.

Still a great QB. Top 5. Not as great as Brady. That hurts me to say that, although Notre Dame is almost as hated on the Ohio State hate meter as Michigan. Sort of like you acknowledging one day that Cam Newton was the greatest over a great QB from LSU (whoever that was). I must confess the greatest Ohio State NFL QB was probably Bobby Hoying or Mike Tomzack. :rotf:
