Nice buck , congrats on a very blessing from the Lord.
Hunted 3 sits thus weekend in one area that is almost a mile hike. It was nice and cold and really quite perfect hunting weather. Blue sky's, preceded by fog this morning. .. First night blanks (busted at the bottom of my tree packing up for the night)... next morning blanks. That's where it gets good.
I decided after sitting til 11am to take a little scouting hike/break. I spent about 2 hours scouring about a mile of this property and seen next to nothing. Then, in the last few hundred yards, I came across a very distinct trail and a very large rub on a 4-5" cedar. Then another. Suddenly I realized I was about 100 yards from my tree. These rubs pointed right in the direction of my tree.
I decided to stay for an afternoon hunt. Climbed up in my summit about 130 and took a little nap (or 2). The afternoon was stunning hunting weather, but was looking like another blank sit. But based on the rubs and the getting busted the night before I decided to sit a little longer than normal. My eyes are not quite what they were a few years ago, and i like to get down about 15 minutes before last light. (I used to laugh at "those guys"... now I get it!) At 450 this nice buck came walking right to me on the same trail I had walked a few hours earlier. In fact, he was facing me head on at 20 yards coming right at me. I don't like chest shots, but thats what I had if I wanted to take him. Let the 295 HP PB fly with 80graims of blackhorn blasting it along. Bang flop. Gotta love thise track jobs.
When I finally got down and made it to him, I just had to stop for several minutes and just thank God for blessing me in so many ways. I'm so undeserving and yet he continues to bless me despite my glaring imperfections. Thank you Jesus.
