Talking to myself 😂

I love to bow hunt, BUT... I never bow hunt my private land. I own it, and try to stay out of it until opening day of MZ. My issue is I need to do some habitat improvement but do not have the $$ or equipment to do it.

I always hunt public with my bow. I go to high odds places to catch a few does passing through. I shoot 1-2 if I can and if a big buck comes by I just thank the lord that it was there. I have had it happen a couple of times, just couldn't get a shot.
That's a great way to handle your hunting. You get the benefit of all types of hunting.

Actually, I disagree.

Sometimes I'll shoot a 2 1/2 year-old. Sometimes a 5 1/2 year-old. All depends on my mood and what presents itself.

Some years, we shoot a fair number of 2 1/2 year-olds off our place. Some years, we don't. But we still grow mature deer at the same rate as we always have. Doesn't really make a difference biologically.
Over the years on one of my leases the buck shooters have slowly disappeare
And you cant make guys understand this!
This made a tremendous difference on our lease. But hey you guys shoot what works for you.

Every year

Me: I don't know why I can't kill big deer

Also me: because you overhunt your stands during bow season

Me: that's true

Also me : and you kill 2.5 and 3.5year olds before they get mature

Me: you make good points but shut up already 😂
Hey still better than no deer at all 😂 I'm 0 for 0

Im not saying shoot ever 2 year old that walks but killing a few has no real change to the overall buck structure , we still have the same amount of mature deer on cams no matter what we kill. For the most part its because majority of the bucks dont stay on our leases all the time just during the rut.
