To keep in the spirit of simplicity I am trying to take advantage of the hunting opportunities that Wears bend has to offer. I plan on hunting turkey deer and everything else there this season except for black bear.

Has anyone ever had success with harvesting turkeys here? Have you ever seen or heard turkeys at this location?

It's part of Tellico lake WMA.

I have no idea about that area, but now is the time to go do some scouting, for both deer and turkey.

I have scouted a portion of it. I have seen turkey droppings and a few feathers here and there, as well. It would be nice to hear from a few people that had actually bagged birds from the property. I don't have a lot of time to hunt and this place really suits my needs. I wouldn't mind to hunt somewhere else in the Blount county area if someone knows a better place but this is my first choice. It's a little rough to navigate, I'd hate to waste my time

Well the best advice I can come up with other than actually hunting there myself, would be to scout as much ground as possible, so you have plan B, C, D, etc. if your first spot isn't working out. If you found turkey sign then that's a pretty good sign, probably means there will be gobblers somewhere nearby in the spring.

As Catman said, scout it as much as possible before the season.

As he also can attest, you don't want a bunch of other hunters talking about past successes at this location, as it will only invite several others to look into the area.

For that same reason, no turkey hunter in his right mind is going to give you info openly on one of his public spots where he has been successful. Now, someone might message you, or they might not :) !

Lastly, contact the area manager and pick his brain. According to the guide, it is DAVID WHITEHEAD (423) 884-6767

You know PalsPal, Ive been hunting for only three years now and I keep forgetting how valuable this type of information really is. If everyone knew everyone's good spots we would all be covered up when we went. lol

Yep thanks to the Internet it is easy for people to find new spots ESPECIALLY when someone talks about their success on "X WMA" or tells all their buddies.

Be careful who you tell personally and definitely don't mention locations when sharing your success online.
