A guy called concerning a deer that was stuck in the fence of his gated neighborhood. I thought it was going to be the usual, "deer got his leg stuck" or something else relatively minor. Well, as you can see, it was a terrible sight. When I got there, the deer was still struggling pretty tough. The gentleman who called said he had only been there for around twenty minutes, so I assumed from the the way the deer was fighting to get loose, that he also hadn't been there for long. Based on our protocol, I first had to notify TWRA but they had another emergency at the exact same time. That being the case, I knew I had to at least try and pull him out, even though it didn't look good based on the amount of space to either push or pull him through. I hung up the phone, put on my leather gloves, and walked over to grab his front legs........ and he was dead! At that time, I had only been there for five minutes. I ain't gonna lie, I was sick at the way he died.

I was thinking the same thing. Directly above the deer, at about the exact height of where a deer would be in stride, was bowed out about 1/2 to 1 inch, which tells me he was haulin' tail and suddenly came to a screeching halt.

Its terrible.. I think this one was eaten alive.. went to my stand one day..nothing.. came back the next and found this..

Wow! Have seen in barbed wire & even tangled in goal nets which I have been able to get the deer free & it lived but in a fence like that PTS ( put to sleep )would probably be the only option due to the stress factor. As stated from above the deer died from stress before it could be put down.
