like every other small item I drop (which happens more frequently than it used to) it hits the toe of my shoe and rolls up under the workbench. Get the flashlight and broom.

Back when I made a living standing at a workbench I developed a theory. There is something about the Earth's rotation that causes every item you drop to roll in one direction only, under the bench!
