The vols at Georgia tech

John Kelly 4tds 125yards

Callaway 4 targets 4 catches over 100 yards 2 TDs can you get much better then that?

Vols looked real bad at times, but stepped up big when they needed to the most.

Hope Jennings is ok looks like him, Calloway & john Kelly can be a pretty good 1...2...3 punch on offense.

QB look good for start #1 WRs didn't help him out much to start the game, but he did throw a couple questionable balls hope he only gets better as time passes.

I would say this is accurate !

What a game. We by no means deserved to win but I'll take it! BTW, everyone should do themselves a favor and go watch at least one game in that stadium. No way TV could even begin to do it justice. Nice would be a gross understatement.

With all the yards GT had running the ball, Vols had more yds/carry. 6.7 vs 6.2
Vols 5 for 5 in red zone.
Vols had 2 penalties

Wow what game. I'm the ever optimist, but even I was having trouble trying to figure out how we were gonna pull it off. I know how the FL fans feel with that first half with the anemic offense. So glad we shook that off.

BTW Vol fans, does anyone else see an eerie similarity to this game and the opener in '98? Just sayin' ;) :D !

I knew they would go for 2 and lucky for us the 1 time we stopped the option was when we needed to!
Team still has a lot to work on. Big surprise of the night for me was Calloway! Think he might be a favorite go to for UT this year.

Going to be a long year for TN when they barely scrape by a team that had no passing game. But GT had a great running game and TN stopped them when it mattered on the 2 pt conversion. Still see a mediocre season and always will with CBJ there. They'll be lucky to go 7-5 after seeing them last night.

WOW if I were GT player I would be madder then a little bit.

Mad about what??

Completely outplaying and just dominating Tenn. and lose.

I also think the coach should have just went for 1 ...I guess they were going to be forced on the next OT. to go for 2
Never know when someone is going to make a mistake.I may be missing something here.

That's why they get paid the big bucks. I actually thought Butch should have gone for two after our score in the first OT. Not many people blame him for going for two because we hadn't stopped them. Now, the play call was a head scratcher.

The GT players have plenty to blame the loss. The illegal block, the missed and/or blocked FGs, etc. They had their chances.

From listening to the commentators last night, if they had gone to triple OT, they would HAVE to go to 2pt conversions (new tule?), so GT would have been there anyway if they went for just 1pt.

It's been the rule for a few years. It is to try to keep games from going 3,4,5,6+ OTs etc.

Go vols it amazing a lot people compare this team the 98 team. Give ol butch time and be will have a winning team

That offense is designed to run the ball. 4, 5, 6 yard gains and they run it at just the right pace to eat large amounts of time off of the clock. Butch was right when he said possessions would be at a premium and thats why I said the defense done its part at the beginning of the game forcing a couple of 3 and outs. That was the TN offenses prime time to go up a couple of scores, alas, they couldnt get it done, putting TN behind the curve.

I think it was pretty amazing that TN was still able to put itself in position to even force over time. They kept playing when things were not going their way and made a few breaks and got it done.

TN had no business winning that game.

The difference early was GT made some plays in the passing game to extend drives, etc., and TN was dropping passes or throwing into double or triple coverage. GT was begging UT to throw the ball and we couldn't get it done early.

The turnovers and kicking game were the difference.

Dormady finally made a few plays, but his accuracy wasn't what I hoped. Maybe it was first game jitters.

BTW, Paul Johnson threw his players under the bus in the post-game interview. He said the 2 pt play should have been a walk in but the players failed to execute. Nice!

When asked about the kicker & what should be done to help

He said "I guess try a different kicker" heard him say it on radio this morning.

Throwing his whole team under a bus sounds like.

The better more talented team won the game.
The better more talented team was outplayed by a large margin and was still able to pull out a win.
Jmo.

And you are one of the TN fans who are happy with a mediocre season year in and year out and get to brag on how good they did and going to be better next year ;)
