They are bad

They've shown spurts but too many mistakes and big plays. Grier has had a great day throwing to his receivers. I'll give Pruitt credit on the 4th and goal call where he went for the touchdown instead of just kicking the field goal. That was ballsy early in to do that I thought. Anybody that thought a coaching change was gonna produce instant results needs their head examined.

No not instant results but the vols schedule is not going to get any easier the rest of the season .

Yeah I'm somewhat familiar with what's ahead. :tu:

There were some highs and some lows. I was really impressed with our qb play. I was not expecting that at all. I pretty well predicted that game. Time to move forward

They didn't look very good, I didn't have high expectations for this year. It would still be nice to look competitive. I'm hoping this staff can turn it around in the next few years. Maybe, maybe we can win 6 this year....today didn't look promising though.

Vols lost by more than I thought. JG looked better than I thought. O-line struggled but also remember those guys haven't practiced together but a handful of times before this game. Secondary got beat consistently but several freshmen were out there up against a heisman candidate and some strong receivers.

It was hard to watch but I feel confident they will improve as the season goes. If they stay healthy through the October games it'll be interesting to see how they finish.

My take;

'They' are not bad. This team is really improved.

We have a solid QB.

Tim Jordan is the bomb.

The last time UT played this smart, Kiffen was on the sidelines.

We finally have the right coach(es).

The future is bright in Big Orange Country. If some fans want to slit their wrists after one game, go ahead. But you're gonna miss the good times that are coming.

Not poking fun at your comment or any UT fans, but that sentence made me chuckle. It reminds me of A LOT of the local UT fans around my neck of the woods. It seems their happiness and attitude is directly proportional to the success of each UT football game/season, which hasn't fared well for them over the last decade.

The types of fans you mention are the ones I was thinking of. They aren't just in your neck of the woods. :D

It wasn't a game Tennessee was supposed to win. Still plenty of time to cobble together a good season.

Well they were the only SEC team with a L yesterday.

0-8 last years...... What happen to all those top 10 recruiting classes in the CBJ era?

There are still 11 games to play.

Washington lost, Michigan lost, Louisville lost, Texas lost, .....half of all teams that played lost. That doesn't mean that all of those teams are going to end the season with losing records.

Football fans are so fickle.

True, but they were the only SEC team, other than Auburn, that played a well respected ranked opponent. LSU is up tonight versus a respected program, should be a good game.

I cannot stand when a top 25 team plays a high school team, and steamrolls them. I would much rather watch two good football teams battle it out on the field, regardless of which programs they represent.

These young men aren't going to just roll over and give up(like some fans)Ugly game but you got to start somewere.Next two weeks should provide plenty of chances to make improvements, come together and be ready to put smackdown on them pesty gators In three weeks. :D

Didn't Florida recruit better those years?

Yup, and #8 Miami looks like they will get a L to start the season as well....

How about #10 Penn st giving up 38 to app st. And having to pull out the W in overtime.....
