Thought's

The fryer we use has a heating element looks to be exactly like the masterbuilt, same goes for the breakaway plug, lights, thermostat.

The heating element ability to maintain oil temperature is my concern. Mine cannot do it with a 3/4 full basket of french fries. Can barely maintain it with 5 pieces of breaded chicken.

The result is fried food that is a little greasy/oily. Not so with my cast iron stuff.

Still, I see Lowes has them on sale for 119.00 which I think is a good price. With that much oil maybe the element can maintain the cooking temp for fries and chicken--maybe a even a small bird.

I have the same electric fryer except Butterball brand, had it 4 years now.

I will deep fry 3 bone in Turkey breasts late Wednesday evening.

They might be 10-15% slower because of no intense heat from a gas burner
Yet my turkeys come out perfect every time.

I gave going on memory $125.00 plus tax at Lowe's

They take a little longer to heat oil to 375, but then I have had no problem

Just allow a little extra time up front plus a little extra cooking time

Thanks. Amazon has the XL for $109.

Gonna go ahead and get one. Never used a turkey fryer so I figured I would try this out instead of the propane type.

My Turkey breasts are bone in, not hole bird, 9 to 9.5 pound range.
Whole bird might be difficult unless you do not use the provided basket
Also, they are real easy to drain oil and clean
Mine will sit on covered patio from this Wednesday till Christmas time with peanut oil still in cooker

U won't drain the oil from Wednesday till Christmas?

"NO", I use peanut oil and through experience I have found that I can do 3 bone in Turkey breasts at thanksgiving and 3 at Christmas then discard the oil

We leave peanut oil in our fish cookers(3) at Chaney year round. It gets replaced when it's finally cooks a batch of fish to dark, current oil in pots has been there over 1 year. We haven't cooked much fish this year. These pots have homemade heavy steel lids to keep anything from getting into oil
