Need some advice before my wife tosses me out.
I spray down well with repellant (3M Ultrathon), tuck pants and check before driving home. But I still seem to find ticks, sometimes after they are buried in my leg.
Today she found one on her and was a good sport as I got it out.
Any recommendations for a good spray or is Permethrin the way to go?

Spray with a high deet spray everytime you get out of the truck and don't wash your clothes until the end of the season. Mine were soaked in blood, stunk to high heavens, and were soaked in deet, but I did not get any ticks off of me and I had people hunting with me that got covered up in them. I have been doing it this way for the past 4 or 5 years and it works.

i believe deet is an attractant for ticks around here. permethrin is the ONLY thing i have found that works.
the ultrathon is great for skeeters but don't do much for the ticks.

i basically just spray myself so much that im choking and running the opposite direction like im getting chased by bees cause i seem to be a ticks favorite recipe. always get ticks on me. somehow had one on my face that i didnt know about until i looked in the rear view driving home and it was stuck n there pretty good. cant remember what kind of spary i got but definitely get permethrine or however you spell it

repel makes several sprays.
some are deet and a few have permethrin. the deet is like molasses to bears. they really like that flavor. however the permethrin is pure poison . normally be the time a tick makes his way to your knee it will fall off dead.

PERMETHRIN is the only thing I have found that will repel ticks like its supposed to.

Another vote for Sawyers! This stuff works very well. I spray it on my vest, boots, shirt, and pants the night before I hunt. Last year, me and a buddy hunted out of a blind. He ended up covered in ticks while I didn't have a single one.

permethrin not only repels ticks, it kills them.
Yep, if exposed to enough it sure will. I think a can somewhere said if they crawl across 8 inches of treated fabric they die!

I can't find Permanone(Repel's permethrin product). I use to buy it at Walmart, but they no longer carry it. Does Repel still manufacture it? Deet does do a good job on chiggers.

They still make it. I didn't see it at Wal Mart either. I bought a can at the LBL visitor center.
My buddy bought a can at the bait shop at Paris Landing, on his way to LBL, at 9 bucks a can! "On the water" price. lol

well, back to Gander Mountain to see what they have with permethrin. Haven't found a tick crawling on us in a couple of days, so I think we got them all. Now, did they hide in the carpet of my truck...? Dang.

Like Orrin said....You can get a bottle of pemethrin at Co-Op for about 7 bucks. I forget the mixture rate, but its something like an ounce per gallon of water. We just bought a plain ole spray bottle, mixed it up, and never found one tick on us all of last year starting in June when we bought the stuff. It really works
