Tikka t3x question

Trying to figure out best way to mount scope on this rifle. Manual says that some come with a permanently mounted picitiny(sp) rail. This doesn't look like one, but it does look like a milled in base of sorts. Is that what this is? What's the best way to mount scope? Rail or the Talley type that mount directly to receiver?

Warne makes direct rings for the tikka. I use the Leupold standard bases and rings however. You can use low rings and a 40mm objective on a 1" tube and low 30mm rings up to a 44mm objective. I run both. Zoom in on the photo.

The holes are for a "recoil lug" for the integral bases/rings. The aluminum ones that come with the gun (or used to) are crap for heavier recoiling guns, but the 6.5C may be mild enough to not give you any problems. I'm pretty sure that I have another set or two around here if you want them, but the opti locks are supposed to be good. Lots of people like the Talley lightweights, but I went with a rail and warne maximas on mine to accommodate more eye relief options
 
The holes are to direct mount rings (Talley for example) or to mount a pic rail. There is also a 3mm hole for the front ring to pin it.

Yes, there are Optilock rings that will fit but I don't recommend them.
 
Talley lightweight direct mount. They have been great. I preferred this direct mount over the tikka/sako dovetail style. Both should work though. DNZ also makes a nice one peice direct mount/rings, i think.
 
I ask because I've found different ones (different mfg #) from Talley that claim to be the correct ones.
The link I posted says, among other things, that they fit the T3. In the questions, someone says they will also fit the t3x.
Just trying to confirm.

I just took a set of Talley lightweight off a Tikka rifle. I no longer have use for them. As generous as you've been around here if they'll work and you'll use them I'll happily send them to you.

Truly a generous offer...thank you. But I ordered a DNZ mount for it already. Should be here next week.
