Please Tennessee fans I implore you to protest the rumor that Vrabel wants to hire Ryan Day as OC. There's no basis to protest but that didn't stop you last time. We don't want to lose him. Take to the streets. My only other hope is if Clay Travis doesn't approve.
oh, is he tied to the penn state/Sandusky stuff too? If so, that's plenty reason to protest ;)

No, but just say he is. Take to the streets. Forward Soviet! :rotf:

At least he isn't as low of a human being as Schiano, the guy who wanted his team to take quarterbacks knees out in downing the ball

Depending on truth of rumors and outcome of Jags/Pats, two Ohio State coordinators may have to be replaced this week.

From what I've read/heard, he nailed the press conference but we'll find out what really matters starting in a little over 8 months.

Obviously I'm biased, but if true, it's best for everyone. First time HC with a first time NFL OC not a good combo IMO.

I heard Vrabel on 104.5 Nashville today and really liked what I heard but only time will tell. It's clear he's all football.

Seriously did anyone u know that was a Titans fan yell Heck yes on this hire??????

Stating the obvious, a head coach hire is important whether we are talking high school, college, or NFL, but the splash of the hire seems more important from a college perspective. That's the guy who sets the tone, leads the recruiting, etc. The chief ambassador so to speak. In the NFL, the splash isn't that important. The GM is equally important. Maybe more important as that's the guy who drafts the 53 man roster, as the coach doesn't get to pick his 20-25 4 and 5 stars every year. You can have a great recruiter in college who is more of a CEO, rather than a X and O guy. Dabo Swinney is rumored to be more of the CEO type and not so great when it comes to the Xs and Os, but is obviously very successful. That wouldn't translate well to the NFL. Looking at the other hires, I don't think any so far, or that will come with the Lions and Colts, will be viewed by any of those fan bases as "heck yes!" hires. When Belicheck was hired by the Patriots, I doubt those fans said "heck yes!" He was hired after a second go round as a DC and after three of four losing seasons in Cleveland. Look at the other three coaches in this years AFC and NFC championship games. None of them were "splashy" hires. The one splashy hire was Gruden to Oakland/Las Vegas, but Vrabel is a heads and tails better hire. Gruden hasn't coached in 10 years and is old now. Vrabel is in touch with today's players and the game. I think his comments about the "college farm system," while being taken wholly out of context, are very prescient. Richard LeBeau is a legend, and one of the greatest Buckeyes of all time, but he played on Woody's 1957 national championship team for goodness sake. He's a bit rigid in his schemes. When Vrabel spoke about being flexible and multiple in defensive fronts, that makes a whole lot of sense and that's the Patriot way and has worked for them for years. What I've heard is flexibility from Vrabel and that's the game today. "Exotic smash mouth" is just semantics for old school.

I think it's a great hire, but time will tell.

I agree, only time will tell. That being said, I have been impressed with GM Jon Robinson. He has not given me a reason to question his decisions.

 Reports are that the Titans hired Kerry Coombs, Ohio State cornerbacks and special teams coach. This one hurts. He's an awesome coach, great teacher, outstanding recruiter. Great energy. He's a walking can of Red Bull. Every cornerback that has started for him at Ohio State since he arrived in 2012 is currently in the NFL. Once Denzel Ward is picked in the first round in April, he'll have 5 first round Ohio State corners in the league. I've read several articles today quoting NFL coaches and scouts that Marshon Lattimore had the best technical coverage fundamentals of any rookie corner that they've ever seen. That's part talent, but mostly great coaching at the collegiate level. Great hire, but I'm crying right now.

Vrabel needs to head south now and raid someone else's program.

I don't think it matters what you or I or any Titans fan or former Houston Oilers fan thinks. Did Jon Robinson call and ask for your opinion? I'm jealous. He didn't ask for mine and we used to be neighbors.

His been good overall.some are starting to question some of his draft picks seen an article about it a few Days ago

LB Kevin Dodd pick #33 in 2016 pretty much a first rounder has did nothing as a titan.

DT Austin Williams, the next pick that year a 2ed rounder has did nothing started 4 games this year 1 sack in two years.

Spent a third 2ed rounder that year on Henry to be a back up HB for two years, Murray had over 1000 yards after taken him that year. Deep HB class for a backup to be taken 2ed round. Maybe he brakes out year 3....maybe.

Three 2ed rounders & the titans got a good back up HB for 2 seasons outta it so far pretty much it.

10 picks that year 4 in the first 2 rounds, if you look back on it as of now titans hit on 2 of those 10. Maybe 3 if Henry can brake out year three.

Be interesting to see what some of the guys in the 2017 class Do next year under different coaches.

Davis the WR taken #5 needs to ball.

Actually yes. though i admit some or most of them are Buckeye fans....

I don't put as much stock in the splash hire as I do with college FB. The media will say it is not a great hire or that there are a lot of questions, and there are, so I guess like others have said, only time will tell.

Here is what I don't like. A caller pointed this out on 104.5 the zone and I agree. He said, we had a coach and everyone at the Titan's team office was saying give him a couple of years, and not to lose patience. Most fans never liked Mularky, but he took the Titan's from a 3 win team to a 9 win team in his first full year and then took them to a second 9 win season in year 2. I get it, they should have been probably 11-5 last year and won the South, but that didn't happen. He then picked up the franchises first playoff berth in 9 years and first win in like 13 years or whatever it was.

Now you have fired him, sighting differences in opinions over the OC (which i thought should have been fired) and we have a new guy that is not proven, but we had a playoff team this year. Now they will say, well you gotta give this guy a couple of years......

That being said, with DeShaun Watson and Luck coming back, and the Jags looking good, the South will be one of the tougher divisions in the AFC and probably the NFL next year.
