Tom Limit By The Years

Look at the fall limits and harvest for those dates because I don't think raising the tom limit was to blame.

I don't see how it couldn't be. Look at those charts, when the limit went to 3 and 4 from 2 the numbers basically doubled. Not that many birds get killed in the fall. From what I've seen the fall harvest is usually between 2 to 4000 birds with I bet a large majority of them being hens. Now I know it doesn't quite work out like this, but there are 95 counties in Tn. If you averaged that out thats less than 50 birds per county a year.

Just thought i should post this. I have been looking at the numbers in the PDF that you guys are using and I don;t know which is right and which is wrong, but the #'s are often off a little bit when compared to what is on the TWRA website.

most of the time the difference is 1-35 birds in a given year, but in one instance with Maury County the PDF shows 498 birds killed in 2006 and the TWRA site shows 933... that being said, i thought maybe it is just Tom harvests on the PDF, but the website showed, only 94 jakes and 8 hens shot that year, meaning over 800 Toms were killed that year in Maury Co.

I guess what i am trying to say is be careful with what data you are looking at, because if they are off, who knows which one is correct.

I'd say the number for Maury Co. 2006 is a type-o. The reason you may be getting numbers that don't match is the charts are for spring harvest not the total for the year.

Some of those birds that are being left off probably come from the WMA in that county.

Maybe that's it. when i pull the data off the TWRA site, I am only pulling for the spring season.
