Had a bird fire up at some owls right before sunset. I hooted and then made some yelps and he kept hammering at the Owls that were talking. He worked his way in and I never saw him due to trees but he was close enough to hear his footsteps. I watched him fly up to a tree 40-50 yards from me. He flew up at 7:22, 13 mins after sunset. Another bird is STILL gobbling as I type, at 7:41 pm on the next ridge over.

Now the problem is, I've been planning to hunt another favorite spot tomorrow, and meet bigasports. That place isn't open all season so it's usually a priority. But I don't think I can leave these birds here. Decisions decisions...

Always always always hunt where you have current Intel. Sounds like the bird you roosted is all alone go kill him. Don't leave turkeys to find turkeys

If I seen him fly up within range I'd took him home.....but for once I'll agree with setterman. Hunt him in the morning

Check your regs- legal shooting hours end at sunset for turkeys, not 30 minutes after like deer. Catman did right and will probably be rewarded for it in the morning.

This is GREAT advice!

Yep of course I'll be sitting 50 yards from him in a few hours. And yes legal hours end at sunset, he flew up 13 minutes after hours.

Don't be surprised if he goes towards the other bird. I'd get in between them if possible.
Good luck!!
they are several hundred yards apart. I'm more concerned there will be some hen talk nearby he will go toward. But he was alone when he flew up for sure.

The other bird down the ridge already gobbled at 445 am. I'm set up real close to my bird waiting for daylight

Had two guys from Arkansas sneak in and shoot him off the roost. I tried flashing them once but didn't want to keep shining a light when I could see the gobbler. I yelped a few times but they didn't know I was there. Of course they saw my truck but assumed I was hunting the fields.

So I got on the 2nd bird and got real close to him, but was stuck in a thicket in a bad spot. I saw him fly down and heard him drumming and gobbling for about 15 mins and then a couple hens across the creek flew to him, followed by a bunch of jakes. Of course the hens took him off to private land but I did hear a bunch of different birds this morning so I can go roam

I guess there's no such thing as a sure thing. I guess you talked to the guys who shot that bird?

The guys near me owl hooted all the way to the bird shock gobbling then shot him off the roost I assume at like 6:02. I called a silent gobbler in later but he caught me off guard and I spooked him trying to get my gun on him. My two year birdless streak continues haha. On a bright note, I had one close enough drumming yesterday and should have had one today.

yea I ran down to em and asked if they saw me, they didn't seem to know, but they saw my truck and thought I would be in the fields. I said no I never hunt those field. I said they could have let him pitch down and he would have come to one of us and the guy said but they drove 5 hours to hunt here. I think the guy that didn't shoot was gonna go after one of the birds we heard across the creek which is what I'm thinking of doing in a while if I don't go and meet bigasports instead.

Drove 5-hours to shoot one off the limb before daylight...
