I assume he was gobbling on the limb and they didn't see him fly up yesterday. Either way that sucks. Even if you weren't there limbshooting one ain't hunting in my opinion. Good luck the rest of the day.
yea I could hear them hooting yesterday and some more owls started hooting and he got fired up and I called him in and watched him fly up.

Had two guys from Arkansas sneak in and shoot him off the roost. I tried flashing them once but didn't want to keep shining a light when I could see the gobbler. I yelped a few times but they didn't know I was there. Of course they saw my truck but assumed I was hunting the fields.

So I got on the 2nd bird and got real close to him, but was stuck in a thicket in a bad spot. I saw him fly down and heard him drumming and gobbling for about 15 mins and then a couple hens across the creek flew to him, followed by a bunch of jakes. Of course the hens took him off to private land but I did hear a bunch of different birds this morning so I can go roam

It's amazing how someone from Arkansas picked/found that place. Of all the public land in tn it's crazy how certain places get so popular with out-of-towners. Hate they messed up your hunt

That is a shame, I do not understand what makes people pull in by a truck turkey hunting. Do they think the person already there can't hear if one gobbles? I understand it's public but if someone beats me to a spot I'm moving on . Just common courtesy and good sense. I understand some roads go a long way and all that but they didn't even know where you had went. Just glad the bird didn't get between you guys. Stay after them your hard work will pay off! From in state out of state it doesn't matter just use common courtesy!

Oh the joys of public land. Welcome to Tennessee!!

If you could see him and also saw them approaching there's no way I would have let them get close enough to shoot him. I would have scared that bird into the next county.

Two wrongs don't make a right. I wouldn't lower myself.
yea that's mainly why I wouldn't do it, not my style. But then again is it really wrong to spook a bird that you set up on and someone else walked past your truck to shoot off the tree.

That sucks Cat, hate it for you man. But that's part of public land hunting, and I swear, there seems to be more turkey hunters from Arkansas than you can shake a stick at. I see them in west TN, and you flat can't get away from them in Missouri.

Thats why I don't hunt opener I always let the wanabees have opener then I fall into the call shy birds on public land later !

No it isn't. What's wrong about it? Anyone who says different doesn't turkey hunt seriously.

I've always hunted the same public land on opener and plan to continue the tradition. Past 2 seasons I killed a bird on opener. I enjoy the hunt anyway
