Got in the woods on a tract of land right down the road from me about 4:30 today. Second call I made had a bird gobble but could tell he was on the old farm that borders the property and they broke it up and have been putting houses on 5+ acre tracts so I knew I had to get him to my side. Well after a bit of time I saw him working his way down the fence and treeline taking his time. He'd stop and strut, take a step or two and do it again. All of a sudden he came out of strut and took off to my left. As I was trying to figure out what happened I see another longbeard that had come from the other direction. They started fighting and it went on for at least 5 minutes. I quit filming after a minute and a half but this is the first time I've seen this in person. I later caught up with one of them and could've killed him but there was a chicken coop behind him right on the other property and their house wasn't too far in front of it. Wasn't worth the risk of stray pellets going where I didn't want them so let him walk. He then ended up within 20' of me walking down a fence I was setup on. Again shot wasn't good so he walked away. Had one more opportunity just before sunset when he came under the fence to my side and red dot looked like a starburst when I tried to get on him. Fairly thick and I was twisted all the way around which didn't help. Oh well he lives to fight another day.
