I check mine every couple of weeks on average during the summer and same during Nov. and Dec. When the rut starts in late Dec. I check them every chance I get and move them from scrape to scrape. Being that the pre-rut/ chasing phase only last a couple of weeks max, I try to learn as much as I can from sign and pictures.
Also, speaking of does pushing bucks off good habitat, BSK I remember you saying at one time the down side of habitat improvement is the increase in the number of does that will move on to the property. Well over the past couple of years we have definitely seen signs of that.
