I took my dads old recurve w/me yesterday and shot it before i practiced with my compound. First time ive ever shot a recurve i was all over the place and the string was hitting my wrist everytime. My arrows were flopping around like a fish on dry land. I know its gonna take some time to get used to it. Where do you anchor with a recurve and do you hold the arrow to the riser when you sling it or do you just make sure its on the riser and don't touch it. Any tips/advice would be appreciated, i'm really wanting to get into traditional i just want to make sure ive got decent form.

There are about a zillion variables involved in the questions you asked.

If you do not know any trad shooters locally, here are some suggestions. Search internet sites like tradgang.com. There is a wealth of information on the net. Get a DVD like Masters of the Barebow, Rick Welch's Accuracy Factory, or Byron Ferguson's Become the Arrow. There are many more out there. Take everything you see, read, and hear with a grain of salt. Some of it will work for you and some of it won't. You have to experiment and discover what works for you.

Your arrows have to be matched to your bow and shooting style. There is no set place to anchor. I use my thumb knuckle on my ear lobe. You do NOT hold your arrow on the shelf with your finger.
