I have a question related to TSS #9. I shoot a Benelli SBE1 with a JellyHead choke. My shell of choice is a 3 inch, 2 oz MagBlend. However, my father in law in interested in the TSS craze. He's given me a few 3 1/2, 2 9/16 oz TSS #9's to try.
Is there any harm to be done in shooting one of these shells on paper with said gun and choke? Thanks in advance.

Way overkill for sure.

Go get yourself a used 20g 870 compact or youth at a local gunshow for $200. That's where TSS really shines. I thought I'd never give up my SP-10 with 2.5 oz loads...

Is there such a thing as overkill? I've never killed a turkey too dead but I have wished at times that my shell was better.

Is it really worth dislocating your shoulder to gain only a yard or two in range
when you already have 50-plus yards range?
Shot a 10ga for years, my shoulder feels fine. Lots of turkey heads smoked.

But this particular post was more regarding shooting a 10ga payload in a 12ga gun.
Typically would produce much more recoil than most 10 ga guns designed more for such payloads.

Actually, isn't a 2 9/16 oz load more
than what most waterfowlers (and turkey hunters) have used in 10 ga guns?

Fire that 2 9/16 oz load in a 12ga Mossberg 835 and the trigger guard will cut your finger unless you're wearing gloves.

To each his own :tu:

Now i will agree with the mossberg statement but i would say my sx3 with tss feels nothing like my 10ga bps. I just can't figure out why people think something is "overkill" on a turkey. Like i said, i've never seen one too dead but have seen them jump up and run.
