Im looking at a turkey gun for under 200. i would like it to be a pump. what are my options?

I found a Mossberg 500 for 165 but that price kinda scares me for that gun sounds a little fishy. what do yall think

My first turkey gun was a 500 and it will kill them graveyard dead. More expensive doesn't necessarily equal better.
i agree but the guy had 870s priced for 300 then the 500 was 165 kinda weird dont ya think?

Who knows. Was it the wood version or synthetic? They're not expensive guns new.

Ive painted cheap shotguns for no reason before other than wanted a different color. Your looking for a shotgun for under 200 so thats the stuff your gonna get. Just an average 500 thats been used wont bring much more than that around here. If everything is tight on it get it and paint that thing camo. My dad has an old camo 500 that he has killed lots of turkeys with and still uses it every now and then. They are good guns.

it was wood but someone has painted it black which is another reason i dont know about it
Check out the barrel and action to see how they are. If clean and no rust I think you'd be okay. If you don't like the wood painted black sand it down and restain or camo paint it.
Barrel has a tad bit of rust on the inside at the end

Go for it on the Mossberg! Worst case scenario: you take it to a gunsmith to have one thing or another fixed. Have you tried gunbroker.com? I don't know if they have what you're looking for, but I've gotten a couple good deals there. Also, there's a guy here in Murfreesboro--Troy Connor--who has his FFL and only charges $50 above cost. Look him up and tell him Joey Mustain sent you his way. Good luck!

I was going to get the mossberg but they were out of stock when I bought my shotgun so I got the NEF Pardner pump 12 gauge for somewhere around $170. It is big and heavy but it has killed 14 birds since I bought it in 2011 if I am counting right. So I love the gun even though it is not the fanciest turkey killing machine it is still definitely a turkey killing machine. It has a 3 inch chamber.

Not a bad deal on the Mossberg, seen many painted black (cheap synthetic..lol) As long as its mech. sound and in good overall
working condition this gun is fine.
GREAT deal on Roost1's 835 though, I would be all over that..If I were you (I bought one myself last yr at $240)
