Thinking of changing gums this year. Cannot go crazy expensive with a shotgun but give me some ideas on what to look at. Using Benelli SuperNova now. I like it but I know there are smoother shooting better guns out there. TIA

I'm doing this myself. Remington 870 youth model 20 gauge. Not sure what choke I'm going with yet.

This one has been on my radar as well.

I got tired of using 12 gauges and switched to a 20 gauge (and .410).

I've been hunting with 20gauge my whole turkey hunting career. Been using an old Western Auto Revelations (same gun as a Mossberg 500) 20 gauge for years. I just want to change up and play with patterning a little more.

Never owned one, but it's hard to beat a mossberg 835, or remington 870. Inexpensive and reliable. I have an 1187 super mag and a mossy935. Both shoot good. The 935 is very heavy buy throws good patterns with any choke/shell I have used.
My dad had the Nova and hated it. I'm sure they are good turkey guns. But we didn't like it. May just be us, but it would about knock your teeth out and poa and poi was different.

The way they make chokes and shells now, 20 gauges and even smaller are plenty.

Ive thought about the 870. Good guns. You are right the Nova and SuperNova will knock your teeth out.

I switched from my M2 12ga to a nova 12ga and the results were great for me. I thought about messing around with an 870 to see what kind of numbers I can get on paper. I need to check the POA and the POI on mine

Those are sweet!
A friend of mine has one
It's a nice little gun and fun to hunt with. I find myself wanting to hunt small game more often because it.

Try the federal heavyweight and lead loads through a factory choke first. They work pretty good out of my yildiz.
A buddy has given me most of a box of the Federal lead 5 shot. I plan on fooling around with it at first but will ultimately probably end up shooting the Heavyweight. Most all my shots are inside 30 yards, so I would think the factory chokes will work just fine. I just need to get out and do some patterning with it. After small game season is over, I'll start researching and plan to buy some sort of comb mounted fiber optics for it. Figuring this out is half the fun.

Are you shooting full and improved modified, or going with a more open choke?

Full and full. I bought an extra at Academy. I had legitimate 40 yard patterns with federal flight control lead 6s. I also picked up a turkey and extra full extended choke from trulock.

Btw, I just saw where Winchester will be releasing longbeards in 20 gauge this year. If they do half as good out of my 20 as my 12 I'll be tickled.

I bought a Mosseberg SA20 Turkey thug and it will flat shoot with federal heavyweight #7 and a carlsons choke tube. This gun come drilled and tapped if you want a scope but already has beard buster sights on it. I am very satisfied with this gun the pattern is great and gun is a pleasure to carry in the Turkey woods.

Hard to beat an 870. There's a reason it's carried by law enforcement more than any other shotgun.....reliability. it's the glock of shotguns imo. Good luck
