Really like this little gadget and have used one for years, great for supporting the weight of your gun if a gobbler hangs up just out of range for an extended time. Less movement.

That is an interesting gadget. I have never seen one before. Looks beneficial. Thanks.

Some of the old school, bare basic guys will laugh at this product, but it is handy as a pocket on a shirt.

Not only do they have excellent eyesight but, they have absolutely no curiousity what so ever. They see something that doesn't look right and they're gone.

"A deer thinks every hunter is a stump. A turkey thinks every stump is a hunter." Not sure who said it, but it is true.

I say practice on a friction and box call and get good with those first. Plus you may want to pick up some type of waterproof call we get lots of rain during turkey season. If you can find one a primos power crystal is a pretty good waterproof call that won't break the bank. If you can spend a little bit of money a good copper call is pretty good when it is wet. I just picked up a copper from a guy named Mike Yingling. It was $60.00. But you can get a primos power crystal for about $25.00.

What striker is best for copper in wet conditions? I've got a couple copper slates but, have never used them when its wet.

Might be Fred Cox, can't remember. Believe Andy S knows who I'm talking about

Wingbone and tube call, not many hunters use them these days and they can be the only call that will work some days, especially if you hunt public land. Those birds have heard almost everything except a wing or tube.

I like using a striker with a carbon tip on it. I have a Mike Yingling copper pot and I use his strikers. But I am sure just about any carbon tipped striker will work.

A call or two that you feel confident using. Doesn't have to sound perfect. And a shotgun that patterns good. That's all you really need. Binos could also come in handy, but if you strike a bird mid day, you won't need binos, you'll just need to get as close as possible and find a good setup and give him a little sweet talk. Most of turkey hunting is woodsmanship, don't really need much gear to kill a bird. Just practice your yelps, clucks and cutting, and make sure you shoot your gun straight, unlike me. Lol

Not gear advise but I wish someone told me this when I was first starting out. When you set up on a gobbler use whatever terrain you have between you and him to make sure when he can see your calling location he is in gun range.
^ What he said. When a bird starts gobbling on the ground, get close as you can, but don't be seen. Keep something between you and the bird so he has to come into range to look for those hen calls. And have your gun ready. When he shows up, he often won't give you much time to shoot before he knows something is up.
