Turkey spurs?

How would I go about getting the bone of the spurs white like in some of the pictures I've seen? Wanting to clean up the spurs for my sons beard and fan mount.

A lot if people use 40% perixide that you get at hair supplies stores.

The peroxide isn't actually 40 percent if I'm not mistaken. It's volume 40 peroxide sold at beauty supply stores. I buy mine at Sally beauty supply. I get the cream formula that you can paint onto bones and let it soak for an hour or so. For European mounts I go for more of a natural white bone color than a pure white. For spurs I have yet to bleach the bones, I guess I just like em the way they are.

After cleaning and stripping the sput bone, you can do like catman said. But, I haven't noticed that much of a difference, before or after. Turkey bone doesn't seem to whiten up like a deer or coyote skull.

A Dremel is what I use to cut mine, but how does a Dremel make the bones white?

Clean them up with a dremal and slap on some white nail polish.

Once you have cut the spurs off, take a knife and filet the skin off the bone, use a q-tip to run through the bone to remove the marrow. Use the dremel cutting disc and lightly sand the surface of the bone on all sides. If this isn't white enough, use fingernail polish. You can also use some clear fingernail polish on the spur to make them shine
