Looks like spring squirrel opens 2 weeks before turkey ends. As long as one is properly licensed...is there anything wrong (morally or otherwise) with doing a dual hunt?

I ask because...an area I hunt is covered up with turkey in the fall, but only occasionally in the spring. Usually they are nowhere to be found in that area in the spring.

Could one set out to hunt turkey but switch to squirrel if turkey not around...or vice versa if they are?

I know some will say...when I hunt turkey...I only hunt turkey, etc. But this area isn't simple to get into. Seems like a waste to get all the way there and have nothing to do but twiddle your thumbs.

Taking a shotgun with intent to hunt squirrels...hearing one gobble...then changing tactics, could be fun. Maybe end up with a mixed bag.

Anyone got an opinion on it?

Following this.

IMO as long as you are properly licensed to hunt what you are after it should be no problem. But I recall something about carrying certain gun/ammo combos while hunting certain game, such as no lead shot for ducks, but turkey only have a few restrictions, so as long as you stick to a SG, you should be ok.

Baiting, possessing rifles, using handguns, possessing or using electronic calls, using live decoys, and loaded ammunition larger than No. 4 shot are prohibited. Turkeys may not be shot or stalked from a boat in Dyer, Haywood, Lauderdale, Obion, Shelby, or Tipton counties.
