You guys need to get on the phone and email, and hold TWRA's feet to the fire on this one. The gun season guys are getting their season extended at the expense of us archery users, although they are effectively shortening the season for everyoneus archery users and bearing the burden on this one! I'm afraid it is either because some nimrod doesn't know how to read a calender, or the TWRA thinks there is some nimrod that doesn't know how to use a calenderprobably right, but not our fault!

nobody's gun season is getting extended and bowhunters can bowhunt from sept. 26- jan. 1.(excluding juvy)

According to the calender we are loosing 11 days of archery season!

Im with Stik on this one, nobody is forceing you to hunt with a gun,you can still bowhunt all you want, just not past Jan 1st,just because its gun season doesn't mean you have to gun hunt, you can continue to bow hunt.If I remember correctly, alot of folks was complaining that they wanted the deer season to end on Jan 1st to help reduce bucks being shot as does in Unit L that have shed their antlers early. You can't please everyone, but you can try to please the majority....And the people on TNDEER are not the majority im afraid,I belive we regular TNDEER members are alittle more hardcore than the "average" deer hunter.

Yes it is, look at the moved UP, and extended, turkey dates and I'm counting the muzzleloader date change from last yearit cut into our time in November. Us archery users are effectively getting our seasons shortened every year it seems and I'm tired of it! P.S. in case you didn't notice stik, everyone's net days are being taken away and that should upset all of us! Sorry, but it's my opinion and others that I've talked to!!!

the muzzleloader segment was moved from dec. to nov. and the dec. was changed to BOW. this upset the sw tenn hunters who then had to hunt the rut with a bow. you can't make everybody happy.

i dont mind change just dont take 11 days of hunting from me .with out lowering the price i pay for my licence.....

i agree, dont shorten my season and make me pay the same.as for more or less days with gun/bow, hunt with what you want, plenty of bow only with gun draws, and plenty of statewide rules areas that should make everyone happy

I understand I can bow hunt any day of the deer season and frequently do so. But I am having my archery only season shortened and disrupted by fall turkey hunters. I'm not opposed to the structure just give me back the days they are attempting to take away preferably nov 4-15 then we can start the whole bang stick thing!

If it is changed, someone will be pissed. If it stays the same, someone will be pissed. Just be happy they are trying to do a little for all the different groups.

tn has one of the longest seasons there is look at all the time you can deer hunt, hell i bowhunt and muzzyhunt, but i wish they would cut the season in half. tn had to restock deer for a reason it was called the herd was shot out and in many areas of the state the game trails are vanishing because the animals are not there to make them anymore, one of the counties i hunt their harvest has fell in half in ten years and its not because of disease its overhunting because of the long seasons allowing the surplus and the breeding stock to be shot down.

i myself enjoy tn long season , i am around a lot of hunters and very few get the chance to go more than a few weeks out of the whole season .and i have seen more than one report that says TN hunters get fewer each year.

Tough. Get over it. You can pretty much bow hunt from the end of September through the first of the year. The vast majority deer hunters in the U.S. would be thrilled to have that opportunity in their home states. You should be thankful for that. Instead, like the welfare-dependent generation Johnson's Great Society produced, instead of being happy, you choose to complain and want more, more, more. And did you even once stop for two seconds to consider the wishes of the fall turkey hunters?

Of course you aren't opposed to the structure. You are only opposed to having to share the woods with other hunters. You then go on to mention you prefer Nov. 4-15 for bow hunting. Well, I prefer it for muzzleloader hunting and I'm more than glad to share the woods with bowhunters.

I'm sick and tired of the whining from the bowhunters who want the woods all to themselves. Their selfishness of their kind is beyond that of a spoiled Hollywood child star. Do they ever consider anyone else? Sheesh!!

Farmin68,
Everyone else has the same opportunity, they can pick up a bow as well. Bow Hunters are not whining they are trying to make stand and be heard isn't this still America? Gun hunters are whining more than anyone if you would read between the lines.

Excellent post and yes I do believe its going to be a done deal. And they are putting something in that when they make changes they can't change em for like 2 years or something? Anybody else know anymore about this?

Agree! with above...

farmin68, you can tell you enjoy bow season and want all the archery days you can gather, just look at your posted location under your user name :) LOL (dont start slinging mud, im just teasing ya)

Shoot members on this site seem to always find a way to argue with one another over something, its ultimately the states choice on how and whenwe hunt, sure we can voice an opinion on what we "think" but I am glad "we" dont control things, because many on here feel Tennessee should be a "deer season" state, rather than having archery, muzzle loader and gun seasons... LOL imagine how long the deer herd would last if you wasnt living in an unit L county!

I guess if firearm hunters get more and more days to go bang, it will only last so long and the state will be reducing hunting days afeild due to over harvest!

I say the heck with it, let the agency make the rules, and roll with it!

I like the change for gun season to run to Jan 1. they should however make it bow only the first 2 weeks of January. Funny how all the gun hunters tell the bowhunters to just get over it however watch them start to cry if they leave the season just like it is now with the break.
