TWRA to take over the Carroll County 1,000 acre recreational lake (update of sorts)

I'm not sure actually on what they are paying off.
It is an artificial lake.
@cbhunter can probably explain it better than me.
He is the one that first told me about this.
Plus, it's in his backyard. :D
I'm pretty out of touch on the politics of it. We started paying $10 wheeler tax when they started building it. It was proposed that the lake would be paid off in "x" amount of years. We are WELL past that point and still paying the extra $10 per year. I'm thankful they built and glad to contribute…it just didn't go as planned on the payoff. $87 per year for tags is ridiculous though and I'll be happy if they knock $10 off when it's paid.

My tags are $102 lol
I live in the city limits though, that's an additional $30

Management wise TWRA couldn't possibly do worse than the Carroll County Watershed Authority. They were completely clueless. The lake can only get better.

I will say this, my son or I one usually catch a "good" bass out of there every year.
I say "good" as in 5# or bigger.
Last year we never did catch one over 3#.
I figure like someone said, alot of really big ones have made their way to people's ponds around the area.

Strictly a guess but I would say they will keep it unless you have a sportsman's license.
Kinda like the rest of the TWRA lakes. (except for Garrett)
Wonder how they will handle all the people that bought a lifetime permit? Honor it or say sorry you are SOL.

Also wonder if they will allow alcohol. Alcohol is prohibited on all TWRA lakes. They don't have a large recreation like like this though. It's a big party lake in the summer.

I wasn't aware they sold lifetime permits.
Also, I was thinking alcohol was not permitted there?

Yes only for Carroll County residents. I believe they are $250.

As far as alcohol may not be permitted on the beaches, but it's plentiful on the water all summer lol.

Got ya.
The alcohol deal doesn't matter to me as I never drink when I fish.
I'm sure it will create some revenue for Carroll county and a little for twra though lol
