UFC 116 Lesnar vs. CARWIN Official Thread!

Spit and me usually get together, but we haven't done that in several months. I'd like to have a big get together and cook out before the fight. We all should plan something out.

Overall, an entertaining card. Brock got the win without really landing a punch. Plus, he proved he could take a punch (and a pounding). Carwin simply punched himself out on Brock's hard head.

Brock is the Best yall there I said it....

#1 IMO fight woulda been stopped any other fight because Lesnar was running away and just had his hands up, I thought it shoulda been stopped...

#2 Carwin looked comfortable but after the fight in the octagon interview he said he was going out...

#3 Why can't Lesnar just admit that he was getting that Rump whipped, when the question was asked he started thanking all his sponsors and such :D

#4 Overall he honestly impressed me tonight with the show of class included the touch of gloves and the start of the 2nd round with a grin across the octagon saying OK OK you handed it to me and now its my turn raising his hand for a glove touch to start the 2nd, and him using submission to win hats off to Brock I enjoyed it honestly!

I have seen them stop fights for a lot less punishment. Carwin had Lesnar down and applied 50+ unanswered power shots. Lesnar was turtled up and getting his head rocked. He was NOT advancing position, He was not trying for a submission, he wasn't fighting back at all, he was just laying there getting pummeled. They need to be consistent on stoppages. They stopped the Bonner fight and Schaub fight earlier in the night for a lot less damage.

Agree with you Kirk but its a Money thing you know this, that fight had to last longer than the 1st round cause all of Carwins wins were in the 1st round!

LMBO!!!

Oh so now we are going to start the "Well if the Ref would have done this and that.", Fight is over and Brock won.

Very hard to be consistent on stoppages. It is a judgement call by the ref. Brock was getting pounded but he didn't seem out of it. You have to protect yourself. You go ahead and just stand up to mule kicks(Carwin's punches). JMO fellas

EVEN Dana White couldn't believe it wasn't stopped. Dana was interviewed after the fight and he said he was concerned while it was going on that the fight was not stopped. HOWEVER, he was glad it wasn't after the fight progressed. He said it showed just how tough Brock really was.

No sour grapes or whining, just an opinion about refereeing.

Ain't that the dang truth! I have seen a lot of fights stopped for way less!

Carwin said his body just gave out on him.

"I appreciate the outpouring of support and everyone who showed up at The Foundation Room last night after the fight. You guys know how to make a man feel like a winner even on his lowest of days. I really do want to thank #TeamCarwin. You guys pushed me up this mountain and many of you have
been with me for a long time. I will need your help to climb back to the top so I appreciate you standing by me.

The game plan last night was to be patient and let the fight come to you. When I had him in trouble the ref keep saying he was going to stop it and then towards the end of the 1st my body began to seize up. In between rounds I could not move my legs and had what felt like a whole body cramp. My cardio was fine but my body was not. What can you do? You have to stand up and face your opponent.

Heading into the second I knew I need to finish the fight or I was going to be in trouble. Much like the Champion he is I am sure Brock was thinking the same thing. I had zero take down defense as my legs were dead to me and the rest is as they say history.

Brock was a good guy through this entire fight. He did not talk a bunch of smack and he fought like a warrior. He did what he needed to do to keep his belt and that is what being a Champion is all about. I am going to have to claw my way back to the top but I wouldn't want it any other way. I know I belong
with the very best; all I need to do is prove it again.

Loosing is what happens on the way to winning. I will be back and better from the lessons learned in this fight.

Thank you to my Coaches, Sponsors, Manager, Family, Friends and Fans."

I will give Lesner his due respect, he had a 265 pound man laying on him beating the crap out of him for over 2 1/2 minutes and was able to survive, regroup and win.

Chris Leben pulled out an impressive submission on Akiyama. You could here the Japanese MMA community collapse when he tapped out.

This was one of the best action MMA fight cards I have seen a few years.

The final punch count I heard was Carwin landed 57 consecutive shots on the ground against Lesnar. At times Lesnar covered, moved, and threw a few hammer fists back. At times Lesnar turtled up in a fetal position, appeared to quit, and absorbed blows. When the ref refused to stop it he would try to survive again. Simply staying conscious shows how tough Lesnar is.

Prefight, tons of money was wagered on Carwin. He started out as >+200 underdog and by the time the fight started it was a pick 'em. The bookies would have lost a ton of money with a Carwin victory. Based on this alone, Carwin would have been hard pressed to win the fight without a knock out.And Lesnar showed he won't be KO'd.

I will give Lesnar respect for the class he showed except after the fight when he was punching his face like I'm not hurt I'm not hurt and he didnt have a straight peice on his face :D

All depends on the ref. Could have been stopped, but wasn't. Victory to Lesner. I've never been impressed with Lesner as a fighter, but he's holding the belt.
