Didn't get home until halftime. Vols are struggling against a Cincy team that's far from world beaters.
Gotta hit shots & I think Rick has got to start playing some of these younger kids. This isn't going to get us anywhere in SEC play or March (not that I expect us to be what we were last year).

Cincy is always tough at home. I think Vols haven't figured out who they are yet. Barnes is a good coach and he'll figure it out.

Hope so.
I think he is too, I just think we're going to need some more impactful minutes than what we're currently getting. You don't want to be trying people out in February.
Neither is perfect or polished but I've been very impressed with Fukerson & Pons this year. They are much improved & I think Rick deserves credit for that.

Unless something changes in a major way where Bowden and Turner start hitting some shots, the vols won't even make it to the NIT this year. I think Turner's shoulder is bad enough that he needs to take a seat.

I'm not ready to make that dire of a prediction yet, but I'm not far off. Main reason is we've been pretty good on the defensive end.

I agree 100% on Turner. He needs to go get healthy. We are going to need him to be able to take big shots with no trepidation. Bowden has to get hungry to score. He's never had to carry the scoring load on a team before & I think he's capable, he just needs to accept the role & lead the team. We don't need 30/night but we probably need 15+ from him.

6 made 3's in the last 75 minutes of game time.
They have zero inside game without Uros. Fulkerson and Pons have spurts, but they need somebody consistent in the paint.
Teams would be crazy to not play zone and dare them to shoot over it.

Got home just as it ended, and saw the final. Against my better judgment, I went back and watched from about the 3:00 of first half forward.

Their bigs killed us, as did our anemic shooting, many of which were WIDE open.

We still had a chance until about the 4:00 mark when we missed on 2-3 possessions and they hit a three or two, and maybe had a put back.

This will be a rocky year. I don't see an NCAA tourney birth unless something changes.

And just why is it that when we finally get a 5*, they don't have a 5*'s mentality?

We need the big guy approved to play by the NCAA!

Yes, and there is also talk of a foreign guy that could play the point possibly becoming eligible.

Also, awaiting NCAA approval.

Turner is 33-117 from the floor. It's time to sit him.

That would be huge. They need all the help they can get. It's going to be a long season if they can't figure out how to score.

For some reason I think the kid may be from Australia, but has been playing in Europe? Could definitely be wrong about that though. I think he's going to enroll in January but don't know the eligibility situation.
Plavsic would be huge (pun intended?) but I'm not holding my breath.

I think we've got Jacksonville state next then Wisconsin the week after. Gotta get some stuff figured out no doubt.
I agree with basically every post above. Could be a long season or we can figure out how to score & be a really competitive team with a chance at making some noise in March.
