IMO, the role of aerodynamics in fuel efficiency has led to very similar looking cars across most makes. Being that aerodynamics don't change, planned obsolescence is used now more than ever as a marketing tool.
Totally agree on them keeping the typical consumer upside down in vehicle debt. I quit participating in that 8 years ago and it's one of the best choices I ever made.
Agreed! All 3 of our vehicles have titles.
I bought a used limited edition 2004 sequoia 4wd w 200k on it for 4k back in 2020. It's got 265k on it now and has check engine lights on, O2 sensor issues, a slight exhaust leak, and I have to refill it once a week with power steering fluid. It's my hunt fish boat towing truck. It's had issues and I've replaced a lot of things on it myself. Brakes, power steering pump, drive belt, timing belt and water pump.
I had a wheel vibration and it sheered the studs off one day when I was going hunting last deer season. The sequoia was down for two weeks and I had to figure out how to haul deer with a corolla.
Strapping them on the deck lid is a solid way to not get any blood inside the trunk and go live on everyones social accounts when you drive through memphis like this!
The other One I drive alot is a 2013 corolla. Was my wife's primary until another driver in another vehicle caused an accident. It's been a great car and got great mpg. Insurance totaled it out, I bought it back. I fixed it myself but I'm no mechanic. I went through all the insane and tortuous steps to get the title swapped from salvaged to rebuilt. I really feel like they set those hurdles so high so people are dissuaded to do what I did. It's still damaged looking, but runs like a top and has saved us a lot of money over the last year using it to run from work and home daily. I only have liability on the corolla and if it gets severely wrecked again we will have to deal with a total loss.
We took the money from the corolla wreck and added it with some money from savings and bought wife a new 2022 rav4 outright in cash. It's not turbo and it's not hybrid and I'm hoping it lasts.
We are making what we have work. We have a nice family car, and I have my bases covered with a hunting fishing boat hauling 4wd and also a gas saver.
Anyway, I'm rough on stuff. I've never resold a vehicle of mine. I've always crashed them at least once, some of them multiple times! I crawled outta the wreckage and just bought another one. I really hope there's going to be better options out there. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need more vehicles before my time is up!
And Lord knows if my two kids are anything like me, they might go through vehicles too!
