Vols OC Mike Debord

Hard to tell. Many thought hiring Shoop was the the best thing since "Swiss Cheese." We watched the "D" give away the most yards in TN's history. In college football these days there's no such thing as a sure hire. Only time will tell.... :)

This hire will probably decide CBJ's future.

Here is a report from WBIR on the bleacher report site.

KNOXVILLE - Tennessee Volunteers offensive coordinator Mike DeBord is leaving the program, according to our partners at GoVols247.

DeBord, 60, is leaving Tennessee to serve as offensive coordinator at Indiana University under Hoosiers head coach Tom Allen,

DeBord is an Indiana native.

"DeBord was likely going to retire regardless, and then this came out of nowhere," a source told GoVols247. "He wants to spend more time with his family and was prepared to do that in retirement, but he feels good and now can coach back closer to home. He's missed his kids and his grandkids."

Mike Debord and I went to the same tiny little high school, though he blazed his trail several years before I did.

That and a quarter won't get you much of anything. lol

IMO Debord wasn't the problem. Yeah he made some bad calls, but all OC's make them. The problem is at the top. Again just MY opinion.

DeBord actually did better as a play caller this year with Dobbs.

The real problem is that he isn't a QB coach, which they desperately need. It will be interesting to who Jones will be able to get. Whoever it is will want some guaranteed money, because they won't risk coming in and Jones being fired next year.

If Shoop can change some of his assistants, it will be an improvement.

They desperately need a qb guru.
That's what makes an offense really click.

Exactly. A top OC probably isn't coming on board. Who wants to sign on with a coach who is probably going to be fired less then a year from now?

I think it is funny how bad gator fans want Butch Jones fired. I guess 38-28 stings a little...... :poke:

I don't... 3-1 while he is at TN. I'll take it. :tu:

Back to the OP. I gave my opinion. Debord did a decent job there. The defense was a bigger problem than the offense. Disagree? And that falls on who? But nice try trying to spin it back to UF. :rotf: I want TN to sign him for life!! :tu:

Jones well not be fired next year.

5-7 or 6-6 get him fired?
I don't think so. Especially if he wins 6+bowl game win.

WOW
Here's a WOW for you. If Jones only wins 5 games next year, he will have a better record in his 5 years at UT than Saban had in his 5 years at MSU.
