Weather this season

 Was outside few hours ago spraying my hunting clothes down with tick spray......while it was spitting snow and sleet.Should be toasty in the morning.

Today was brutal. First time in a long time, I had to leave the turkey woods because I was not prepared gear wise. Should have left the house this morning in my full rain gear to deal with the unpredicted friggin sleet storm i had to endure. Left the truck before daylight to climb up to a listening spot, and then the white out began. Two hours straight of less than 10 yard visabilty. Got ice down my back and could not shake the chills. Had to end up coming home to thaw out. Decided to use today to lay around and recharge.

I've been 1 morning this season because of the weather.
Hunted 2 evenings after work that I should have stayed home due to hurricane type wind.
I am really hoping for a dry Saturday as that's the only morning hunt I can get in each week.
Fingers crossed.

Today was the first day the weather actually kept me from killing a bird.

Had 2 gobbling like crazy on the roost with my 10yo set up at their flydown spot. We set up at 515, so had to sit there over an hour before gobble time. They gobbled like crazy despite the spitting snow, but today was the one day they refused to fly down until 8am. By then my daughter was frozen like a popsicle, and she just couldn't handle any more. We left them still gobbling on the ground, and it almost killed me.

I went back to that bird 3 hours later with my 9yo nephew, and he was still answering every call. Unfortunately he gobbled up a coyote who ruined the chance at his first bird. Miserable day for us, but the turkeys were still doing their thing like it was nothing at all.

Oh today wasn't all bad. Matching pair from a 3.5 yo this past season

Today looks like another jewel, lol. There's 3" of snow in the mountains and it's 29 degrees with a wind chill of 22. I'm up and going but starting to doubt my own sanity.

Hunted all day.....not a peep. Not even an owl, but made one crow sound off at me, only crow I heard today too. Cold, crisp morning with blue skies.....the kind of mornings I usually hear the most gobbling. Nothin. Sitting here waiting for fly up and nothing. Shaddowed 5 birds the last 2hrs and the hens didn't even yelp. Just a weird day. Squirrels and chipmunk are good though. Lol

Birds were gobbling like never before all day today in middle TN. Trying to keep a 9yo boy still enough to get one in range was a totally different matter. As much as I hate blinds, I may be forced to pull one out for him to have a chance
