Been a good year so far
I'm at work, but my guys said the same. The push just hasn't happened.Guys said they saw like 40 ducks this morning. If it doesn't get better through weekend might want to take up pickleball….
Sadly, I wouldn't have been shocked if you had said they shot at them.Had three mallards set for the decoys about 60 yards out when the blind 500 yds away decided to start hail calling at them. Public hunting at its finest
I often think about how many blinds and spreads a duck sees by the time it gets to west TN. Not to mention how many times it gets shot at. It's a wonder we ever kill a duck.4 gadwall and 6 woodies today. Saw a few mallards but nothing would work. My friend asked why won't they work down in the hole. I said well they have been called to and shot at since September. That could be the reason or maybe we just suck.
We had some guys set up 300 yards from us Saturday. They crippled every duck they killed and had to get the boat out to chase them down. I'm not kidding when I say they probably averaged 10 shots per duck. They would shoot at a cripple 3 or 4 times after they got the boat out. One time they chased a cripple down toward us. They were 150 or so yards away and we had ducks working. They shut their motor off and started calling to them. You can't make it up.Had three mallards set for the decoys about 60 yards out when the blind 500 yds away decided to start hail calling at them. Public hunting at its finest
I told a guy the other day that if I had a dollar for every time the average duck in West TN has heard a duck call since September, I wouldn't be in the garhole we were in.I often think about how many blinds and spreads a duck sees by the time it gets to west TN. And I'd bet the majority of those calls were blown by someone that didn't know how to call, when to call, or how to sound like a real mallard hen.I told a guy the other day that if I had a dollar for every time the average duck in West TN has heard a duck call since September, I wouldn't be in the garhole we were in.
